Outbound Kennedy Reopens After Crash Kills 1, Injures 2

CHICAGO (CBS) -- The outbound Kennedy Expressway was shut down for more than three hours Monday morning, after one person was killed and two others injured in a crash near the Cumberland Avenue exit.
Illinois State Police said a semi-tractor trailer truck and two other vehicles collided around 6:10 a.m. on northbound I-90 near Cumberland. The outbound lanes were shut down after the crash, but the lanes reopened by about 9:30 a.m.
CBS 2's Kris Habermehl reports one person was killed and two others injured when a semi rear-ended an SUV near Cumberland. The two people injured were being taken to a local hospital. Further information on the injuries was not immediately available.
The northbound lanes were closed while police investigated the crash and cleaned up the scene, and traffic was backed up for several miles as a result, as far south as Ohio Street. Outbound traffic was being diverted off the Kennedy at Cumberland while the northbound lanes were shut down.
The cause of the crash was under investigation.
