Orioles Sign Ex-Cub Adam Greenberg
(WSCR) It appears former Cub Adam Greenberg has a chance to get more than just "one at-bat."
The Orioles signed the former Cubs prospect to a minor league contract Thursday that does not include an invitation to spring training.
Greenberg was hit in the head by a pitch in his first big-league plate appearance in 2005. He didn't return to the majors until 2011 when the Marlins signed him to a one-day contract behind a national campaign to get the slugger "one at-bat."
He struck out against N.L. Cy Young Award winner R.A. Dickey in his lone at-bat with the Marlins.
