Optometrist: Watch For Dangerous Toys
CRETE, Ill. (WBBM) -- As parents start prowling the toy store shelves, an optometrist suggests they consider the age of the child to be using the toy, and what the child be doing with it.
As WBBM Newsradio 780's John Cody reports, optometrist Phillip Kaufman says he has seen more lethal and eye-damaging toys on the market this year than he has in the last two decades.

Dr. Kaufman points to a CO2-powered BB-gun being marketed to 10-year-olds, even though federal regulators say it should not be used by anyone under the age of 16.
"What it will do is it will actually knock out an eye, not just cataract," he said.
Dr Kaufman, from south suburban Crete, also cautions holiday gift givers about Nerf rifles that can also fire pens, and radio-controlled helicopters that can, and have, cut up children's faces if flown by an inexperienced pilot.
