Oprah Arena Tour Bypasses Chicago
(CBS) -- Heads up Oprah fans: Ms. Winfrey and friends are hitting the stage, announcing an eight city arena tour across America this fall.
Each city, from San Jose to Miami, will feature a two day Oprah event. But some fans may notice something missing on this tour: Chicago.
In downtown Toronto Monday, fans started lining up at dawn to get a preview of the kind of huge arena shows she has planned.
Like the Canadian show, Winfrey plans to showcase spiritual life coaches like Deepak Chopra, inspirational authors and gurus to advise people on how to achieve their fullest potential.
Tickets for the arena shows will be $99 apiece and $999 for a meet and greet with Oprah, but you won't see her in Chicago.
Chicago Oprah fan K.C. White is surprised Oprah won't have a Chicago show.
"It's her city, why wouldn't she?" said White.
Says her organization, "Oprah would love to go everywhere but the decision was made to go where audiences have never had a chance to experience an Oprah show."
Radio talkers Roe and Roeper say they won't miss the talk show legend here.
"If you've got $999 to spend for a meet and greet with Oprah, you don't need to go to a seminar to find out how to live your life, cause you're doing darn well already," said Richard Roeper.
Sharon Goede, a tourist from Cleveland, said, "I think the people of Chicago have found their inner selves. She's done a good job of cultivating that here."
Sharon was disappointed that Oprah wouldn't be coming to Cleveland either.
