One Teen Dead, Another Wounded In Little Village Shooting
CHICAGO (STMW) -- A 17-year-old boy is dead and a teen who was with him wounded during a shooting in the Little Village neighborhood Saturday evening.
Police say the two were near South Western Avenue and West Cermak Road when they were shot about 6:15 p.m.
The teen and his 18-year-old companion were in a vehicle when a gunman drove up, exited his vehicle and opened fire on the two, police said.
The 17-year-old was shot in the head, the 18-year-old suffered a gunshot wound to his arm, police said.
The teens drove themselves to Rush University Medical Center for treatment.
By the time they arrived, Oscar Marquez, of the 700 block of South Oakley Boulevard, had died, authorities said. The 17-year-old was pronounced dead at Rush University Medical Center at 6:29 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.
The 18-year-old survivor was listed in "stable" condition and was transferred to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County for further medical care, police said.
No one was in custody Saturday as Area Central detectives investigated.
