Pedestrian Critically Injured When Hit By Car On South Side
CHICAGO (STMW) -- A man was critically injured Saturday morning when he was struck by a car while he was crossing a street in the South Side South Deering neighborhood.
The accident happened about 8 a.m. at 95th Street and Jeffery Boulevard, according to police.
The man was crossing the street and was in the crosswalk at that location when he was struck by a vehicle, according to police News Affairs Officer Jose Estrada.
The driver of the vehicle that struck the man remained on the scene, Estrada said. As of about 11 a.m. police had no information on whether any citations would be issued.
The pedestrian was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in serious to critical condition, according to Fire Media Affairs. He may have suffered a head injury, police said.
The police Major Accident Investigations Unit is investigation the incident.
