One Man Killed, Another Injured In Dan Ryan Shooting
CHICAGO (CBS) -- One person is dead, another is hospitalized after a shooting on the Dan Ryan Expressway.
Illinois State Police are trying to determine who is responsible for a fatal expressway shooting on the Dan Ryan overnight.
Troopers tell CBS 2 three men showed-up at Rush University Medical Center in a Nissan Sentra riddled with bullet holes around 2:10 a.m. Sunday. The vehicle's windows were also shattered, and there was blood on the rear of the vehicle body.
The driver told investigators a total of four men were in the vehicle, and they were traveling northbound on I-94, near the Circle Interchange when someone opened fired on the car.
Investigators say five to 10 shots were fired at the Sentra.
The Medical Examiner says 22 year-old Lavonshay Cooper of Chicago's West Humboldt Park neighborhood, died as a result of his injuries. Investigators say he was riding in the rear driver side of the vehicle.
A second man, who was riding in the back passenger side, was treated and released at Stroger Hospital.
State Troopers say one of the four men fled the scene on foot, and they are still trying to identify him.
Troopers combed the The Dan Ryan near the Canalport exit a few hours later looking for bullet casings.
No description has been released of the shooter, or their vehicle.
