One Dead, Two Injured In South Side Shooting
CHICAGO (STMW) -- Devin Common told his mother he was going to a nearby South Side store around noon Tuesday.
Minutes later, his mother Kimberly Common saw him laying dead in the 7400 block of South Champlain Avenue.
He was her second son fatally gunned down since last summer in the Park Manor neighborhood.
"I couldn't believe it was happening all over again," said Kimberly Common, who lost her son Antonio Common, 23, to gun violence in an alley near the corner store at East 75th Street and South Langley Avenue.
On Tuesday, Devin Common, 27, of the 7300 block of South Champlain Avenue, and two other men were shot at 12:12 p.m. The other two victims had minor injuries.
His mother said she heard the shooting was involved a robbery.
"Antonio had told me, 'I'm going to the store, I will be right back, momma," said Kimberly Common, who has two other children. "Devin said the same thing."
Police have a person in custody and recovered a weapon, a source said.
