One Dead, Two Critically Injured When Vehicle Crashes Into Building
CHICAGO (STMW) - Five people were arrested late Friday after a vehicle struck three pedestrians, killing one of them, on the Northwest Side.
Police responded about 11 p.m. to a crash in the 5000 block of West Armitage Avenue, according to police News Affairs Officer Amina Greer.
A Nissan Altima and a Mitsubishi vehicle were chasing each other while the occupants of both cars were throwing bottles at each other when the Altima lost control, according to Greer.

The Altima hopped the curb and crashed into a building that three pedestrians were exiting at the time, Greer said.
Three people were critically injured in the crash at 5038 W. Armitage Ave., according to Fire Media Affairs.
Fernando Lagos-Balsco, 52, of the 1200 block of West Leland Ave., was pronounced dead at 12:18 a.m. Saturday at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.
Another 52-year-old man was in critical condition and a 38-year-old man was listed in fair condition at Mount Sinai Hospital, Greer said.
Five people from the two vehicles that were chasing each other were arrested, Greer said. Charges were pending early Saturday.
The chase appears to have been gang-related, Greer said.
The Chicago Police Major Accidents Investigation Unit is investigating the crash.
