Woman Killed In Dan Ryan Crash On South Side
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A woman was killed in a rollover crash Sunday morning on the Dan Ryan Expressway on the South Side.
A green 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer was traveling at a high rate of speed in the southbound express lanes near 47th Street at 9:35 a.m. when it veered from the far left lane into the middle lane, according to Illinois State Police.
The Trailblazer struck the driver's side of a red Cadillac CTS, then veered back into the far left lane, struck the concrete median and rolled onto its passenger side, police said.
The driver of the Trailblazer, a 52-year-old Chicago woman, was not wearing a seatbelt and was partially ejected from the SUV, police said. She was taken to Stroger Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
The Cook County medical examiner's office did not release her name Sunday morning pending notification of her family.
The two people inside the Cadillac CTS, a 55-year-old Montana man and a 56-year-old Montana woman, both refused medical attention at the scene.
All southbound express lanes remained closed after the crash until at least noon.
