Inbound Bishop Ford Freeway Reopens After Fatal Crash
CHICAGO (CBS) -- The inbound lanes of the Bishop Ford Freeway were closed for four hours Tuesday morning, after a 41-year-old man was killed in a crash near Sibley Boulevard.
Illinois State Police said a Dodge sedan was heading north on the Bishop Ford, when the driver failed to slow down to avoid hitting a slow-moving semi-tractor trailer in front of him in the middle lane. The Dodge rear-ended the truck, and the car's driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police identified the driver of the Dodge as 41-year-old Randall Moore, of Chicago. Investigators said it was not immediately clear if he had been wearing a seat belt.
The truck driver was not injured.
At first, two inbound lanes were closed after the crash, but police closed all inbound lanes at 5:30 a.m., diverting traffic off the Bishop Ford at 159th Street.
All inbound lanes reopened around 9:30 a.m.
