A man -- identified by the Cook County Medical Examiner's office as 20-year-old Xavier Silva -- was shot about 4:20 a.m. in the 2200 block of North Mango Avenue, police News Affairs Officer Michael Sullivan said.
Police said the man was outside when he was struck by gunfire from an apparent drive-by shooting. His friends then took him to an unidentified hospital.
Silva, of the 3200 block of North Natchez Ave., was pronounced dead at 4:58 a.m. at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, the medical examiner's office said. An autopsy is scheduled for Sunday.
About 9:10 p.m. Friday, a gunman shot a 16-year-old boy on a sidewalk in the 1700 block of North Springfield Avenue, police said. The shooter yelled gang slogans before firing shots in the boy's direction.
The teen was struck in the leg and arm and was initially hospitalized in good condition at Mount Sinai Hospital, police said.
About 10:55 p.m. Friday, a 27-year-old man was shot in the leg in the 3200 block of North Wolcott Avenue and was taken in "stable" condition to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, police said.
The man was walking down the street when a gunman exited a black vehicle with a handgun and began firing shots in his direction, according to police.
About 2:55 a.m. Saturday, a 35-year-old man was shot twice in the left leg in the 9200 block of South Woodlawn Avenue and was taken in an unidentified condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, Sullivan said.
About five minutes later, a 23-year-old man was shot in the chest and arm in the 7100 block of South Ashland Avenue and taken to Holy Cross Hospital in "stable" condition, police said.
