One Dead After Boating Accident In Fox River
ALGONQUIN, Ill. (STMW) -- A boating accident in the Fox River near northwest suburban Algonquin has left one person dead early Sunday in McHenry County, according to fire department authorities.
One male who was found in the water is dead, according to a release from the Algonquin Lake in the HIlls Fire Protection District.
At 4:20 a.m. personnel from the Algonquin Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District was sent to 10350 N. River Rd. to investigate a a 21-foot Cutty Cabin boat that was upside down on a pier, according to the release.
The boat was resting half one a pier and the victim -- identified to the Elgin Courier-News by officials as Michael Cherbak, 45, of Algonquin, was found in the water about ten feet from the boat, according to the release. Crews searched the water using a sonar but no one else was found.
The cause of the accident was under investigation by the McHenry County Sheriff's office.
