CHICAGO (STMW) -- One person was killed and two others were injured in an early Saturday crash on Interstate 57 on the Southwest Side, authorities said.
The three-vehicle wreck happened about 3:20 a.m. in the northbound lanes of Interstate 57 at West 111th Street, Illinois State Police Master Sgt. Timothy Tippet said.
Initially, the 20-year-old woman driver was taken in serious condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, Tippet said. A 25-year-old woman passenger was also taken to Christ Medical Center, while a 22-year-old man in the vehicle was taken to Roseland Community Hospital.
Trineah L. Robertson, 25, of 1524 Fairmont Ave. in Joliet, was pronounced dead at 3:55 p.m. at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.
All three vehicles were traveling north when one driver tried changing lanes and struck another vehicle carrying three people, Tippet said. That driver then lost control and a third vehicle.
All three of the injured were inside one vehicle, Tippet said. The driver's were the only people in the other two vehicles, and they were not hurt.
State Police are investigating.
