Olczyk: Emotions, 'Selfish Plays' Getting Best Of Blackhawks
(CBS) Trailing 3-1 in the Western Conference Final against the Kings, the Blackhawks have their backs up against the wall, and one thing is for certain.
This isn't the team anyone around Chicago is used to watching play. Most notable are the senseless penalties the Blackhawks have drawn too often, with both Brandon Bollig and Andrew Shaw among those who have taken bad penalties away from the play as Chicago has dropped three in a row.
"You can't let emotions get the best of you," Blackhawks and NBC color analyst Eddie Olczyk said on the McNeil and Spiegel Show. "What happens is, there are guys on this team that don't kill penalties, and they're some pretty good players. And they sit there for long stretches, and we've seen this at times. I think that's been one thing this team has been pretty good at for a long, long time, and that's controlling their emotions and having discipline. But it has gotten away from them at times.
"It's selfish. Those are selfish plays where you just can't make them. You can't make them at this time of year."
