Ohio State To Submit Response To NCAA On Friday
COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -- Ohio State athletic director Gene Smith says he's disappointed with "where we are" in terms of NCAA violations by its football program and the sanctions that will come with it, though the university is on track to respond this week to charges that Buckeyes players received improper benefits and that ex-coach Jim Tressel covered it up.
Smith said the school is planning to submit its response to the NCAA on Friday.
Smith told The Associated Press he feels good about how Ohio State how we collaborated with the NCAA in its investigation. At the same time, he said, he's still disappointed by the situation.
Smith declined to address particulars about the response. He did say his positive feelings about the school's compliance department have been "reaffirmed."
