O'Hare Travelers Getting An Earful From Daylong Fire Alarm Test
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Going to the airport can be enough of a chore in and of itself, but on Thursday, travelers at O'Hare International Airport will have to endure the extra headache of listening to fire alarms going off all day.
WBBM Newsradio's Bernie Tafoya reports, according to the city's Aviation Department, the city will be testing fire alarms throughout the airport all day long.
Biju Nair didn't know that when he contacted WBBM, frustrated with the lack of answers he was getting about the constant blaring of the alarms.
"We've been here in Terminal 2 for close to two hours, and ever since we got here, the fire alarm has been going on, with no response from either the airline officials here, or the city. They've all been saying they don't know what's going on," he said.
The only relief he got from the wailing sirens was when he boarded his flight, and the crew closed the door.
"People have the potential to get ear damage, or other hearing damage, or other issues," he said. "There were some people saying this calls for major lawsuits."
So, did Nair suffer any hearing loss?
"I got a headache, for sure, but I don't know if I have any. I can hear you fine right now," he said.
