Officials: Man Committed Suicide At Sauk Village Gas Station
SAUK VILLAGE, Ill. (STMW) -- A 23-year-old man found shot in the chest at a south suburban gas station over the weekend committed a suicide, officials said Monday.
Sauk Village police got a report Sunday afternoon of a man who might be dead in a car at the Marathon station at 1801 E. Sauk Trail Rd. When they arrived about 12:50 p.m., they found the man in the rear seat, unconscious and not breathing, according to a release from police.
Police and paramedics discovered he had suffered a single gunshot to the chest. A gun was reportedly found at the scene, according to a source.
The man was identified as Robert Broadway, 23, of the 900 block of Park Avenue in Thornton, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office. He was pronounced dead on the scene at 1:14 p.m.
On Monday, an autopsy found Broadway died of a gunshot wound to the chest and his death was ruled a suicide, the medical examiner's office said.
The investigation was conducted by Sauk Village police and the South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force.
