Officials Hope To Dodge Flooding In Lake County
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Flood warnings are up in Lake County but the county's emergency management agency says it's not cause for concern for those along the Fox and Des Plaines rivers at this point.
If the weather forecast holds, Lake County Emergency Management Coordinator Kent Mackenzie says he expects the rivers to crest and go down.

There is rain in the forecast over the next few days, but he says it's not enough to send the rivers very far over their banks.
The rivers are at the low-end of flood stage, he says, adding: "The National Weather Service issues a flood warning when a river is forecast to exceed flood stage."
Flood stage is usually defined as when a river flows outs of its bank. In Lake County, at least, that doesn't really begin to cause problems.
"There's a good bit of flood plain before the river even rises up to where it would get to houses or anything," Mackenzie says.
The water on the Chain-o-Lakes is high and has been declared a "no wake zone."
