Official: Flood Risk On Fox, Des Plaines Rivers May Not Be As Bad As Feared
(CBS) -- The Emergency Management coordinator in Lake County, north of Chicago, says flooding along the Fox and Des Plaines Rivers may not amount to what forecasters originally feared.
As wet as it has been in the Chicago area, Lake County Emergency Management Coordinator Kent McKenzie said it has been drier than anticipated in Wisconsin, where both rivers originate.
Flooding May Not Be As Bad As Feared
As a result, he said there will not be as much floodwater, and it won't last as long.
However, McKenzie said, not everyone will be spared. He said special attention will be paid to the Fox River Springs subdivision in Antioch Twp., and to low-lying areas from the Chain O'Lakes north.
McKenzie said additional rain in the next weeks could complicate matters.
