Officer Fires At Suspect Who Tried To Run Him Down
CHICAGO (CBS) -- An off-duty Chicago Police officer suffered minor injuries after a man tried to run him over with a car in the Little Village neighborhood Wednesday night.
The officer was working security at a restaurant on 26th Street just east of Kedzie Avenue. Around 9:40 p.m., he ejected three male customers and stepped outside to make sure they were leaving, police said.
At that point, one of the men apparently tried to run him down in the Nissan.

"(The driver) jumped out of the way, they turned around and did it a second time, and literally pinned him against the fence of the parking lot," said Chicago Fraternal Order of Police spokesman Pat Camden.
The officer was able to jump onto the hood of the car and fire two shots through the windshield, grazing the driver in the head. Camden said.
The suspect fled in the car, lost control and slammed into an oncoming car in the 3100 block of South Kedzie Avenue.
The driver and his two passengers were arrested. The driver was treated and released from Mount Sinai Hospital, then sent to the Harrison District police lockup with the other two suspects, police said.
The driver of the car the suspect slammed into was also treated and released from an area hospital. The officer was also treated for bruises to the leg that had been pinned, Camden said.
