Off-Duty Prisons Officer Shot On South Side
CHICAGO (CBS) -- An off-duty Cook County corrections officer was shot multiple times after he thought he was being followed while driving his car.
The 34-year-old father of two was driving northbound on Interstate 57 when he thought somebody was following him.
He got off the interstate and stopped near 98th Street and Halsted around 2 a.m. on Tuesday
That was when he was approached by a suspect and shot five our six times in the jaw, shoulder and back.
He was taken to Stroger Hospital where he had surgery and is now in stable condition.
No one is in custody, and Area South detectives are investigating.
