OEMC Says 911 Callers Should Be Ready To Answer Dispatcher's Questions

April is 9-1-1 Education Awareness Month.
Dionne Tate, deputy director of Police and Fire Dispatch at OEMC, says callers should be prepared to answer a lot of questions.

"We recommend that they try and stay as calm as possible and listen carefully to the call taker when they are asking those important questions so that we can ensure the safety of the citizens, ensure that they receive the proper resources," Tate said.
Tate says 90 percent of the 9-1-1 calls into OEMC are from cell phones which only reveal 'cell tower' locations.
She says it's important for the caller to give his or her 'exact' location and cross street.
