Occupy Chicago Plans 2-Day Festival In May
CHICAGO (CBS) -- The Chicago outdoor festival season is about to get a new, politically-based offering in the spring, in the form of the Occupy Festival.
As WBBM Newsradio's David Roe reports, the Occupy Festival is set for May 12 and 13 in the Union Park, at Ashland Avenue and Lake Street, which is known as the venue for the Pitchfork Music Festival and the starting point for numerous immigration rights marches over the years.

An announcement for the festival will be held from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. on both days. Organizers are planning to host more than 25 top local, national and international musical guests on two main stages, and visual performing artists as a third.
Local food and beverage vendors will set up at the festival. A children's area, and such activities as bags tournaments and yoga instruction will also be available, organizers said.
What makes this festival unique is that it embodies the spirit of the people with a united cause which affects everyone and gives people a chance to share ideas and express themselves in a positive way. It all happens within a safe environment through art and music, the true universal languages that break down barriers and allow freedom and inspiration to flourish. The festival will also act as a fundraiser for the Occupy Movement by donating 50 percent of net profits to Occupy Chicago, who officially endorses and supports the festival," event organizer Graham Czach said in a news release.
Admission for one day is $35, for both days $55. Organizers had been planning to offer VIP packages, but have called that idea off.
