Obama On Penn State Sanctions: Appropriate Message To Send
(WSCR) It looks like one high-ranking American has no problem with the sanctions levied against Penn State.
In the wake of the Jerry Sandusky child sex-abuse scandal, the NCAA fined Penn State $60 million, cut scholarships for the football program, vacated all wins since 1998 and banned the program from postseason play for four seasons - all of which is OK by President Barack Obama.
"I think it was appropriate to send a message," Obama told Ohio sports radio station "The Fan" on Wednesday.
"We have to make sure we're always looking after our kids and we have an affirmative responsibility to make sure we're preventing predators from taking advantage of them," he said.
