Oak Park Village Board To Weigh Legalizing Beekeeping
OAK PARK, Ill. (CBS) -- The Oak Park Village Board takes up the issue of beekeeping at its meeting Monday night.
As WBBM Newsradio 780's Mike Krauser reports, keeping beehives in Oak Park is listed as a "nuisance" under the Village code.
Last fall, the board of health recommended lifting that designation, and allowing residents to keep bees.

The residents would have to have a permit, and those who live in apartments or condos would not be allowed to have hives.
Those in favor have argued that beekeeping would be good for gardens and would make Oak Park greener.
Opponents point out that some people are allergic to bee stings, and allowing the keeping of bees in Oak Park could lead to someone dying.
