3 arrested after stabbing at restaurant in Oak Forest, Illinois
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Three people were arrested after "several" people were stabbed Saturday afternoon at a restaurant in south suburban Oak Forest.
Police said, around 2 p.m., officers responded to a disturbance at Jamaica Jerk Choice, at 6064 W. 159th St., and found "several" people who had been stabbed.
The victims were taken to the hospital for treatment, but police did not elaborate on how many people were injured, or how seriously they were hurt.
Three people were taken into custody, and police said the stabbing was an isolated incident, and there was no threat to the public.
Business continued for some of the shops in the same strip mall at Golf View Plaza after the stabbing, but it was certainly not business as usual, with large portions of the parking lot taped off, and shoppers left wondering what happened.
Yellow police tape cordoned off part of the parking lot hours after the attack.
One man who was leaving a neighboring business and didn't want to be on camera said police told him four people came to Jamaica Jerk Choice and had an altercation with at least one employee, who might have been able to fight back.
The restaurant's website says they're family owned and operated. Customers were left confused as they stopped by after the stabbing.
"I called here at Jerk Choice a couple of times. They weren't answering, so I came to pick up some food. I was going to order here, but I'm not sure what happened. So can't put an order in," said Akash Singh.
An employee at a neighboring barbershop said police asked them to review their surveillance cameras, though he didn't know if the cameras caught anything.
Oak Forest police said they will likely not have any updates on the case until Monday.
