Oak Forest Police Officer Among 3 Arrested In California Stabbing
CHICAGO (CBS) -- An Oak Forest police officer was among three people arrested in connection to a stabbing outside a California gym on Sunday.
The stabbing happened Sunday afternoon in Huntington Beach.
Huntington Beach police spokeswoman Officer Jennifer Marlatt said two men were walking by a parked car, and made a comment about the vehicle, prompting an argument with the three people inside.
The victims say the altercation started because the suspects heard them speaking Arabic.
"We have no evidence or anything in the investigation that leads us to believe that the attack was motivated by race, ethnicity or the language they were speaking," said Marlatt.
A fight started, and one of the men who was walking by ended up getting stabbed.
The victim was taken to the hospital, but his injuries were not life-threatening, and he has since been released.

The three people in the car fled the scene, but were located a short time later.
Arthur Roman, 28, of Tinley Park, Illinois, his brother, Martin Roman, 25, and his sister-in-law, Jessica Roman, 27, both of Lake Forest, California, were arrested for assault with a deadly weapon.
"During the investigation, it revealed that one of the suspects involved, Arthur Roman, is a police officer in the state of Illinois," Marlatt said.
The officer, his brother, and his sister-in-law were released on bond.
The Oak Forest Police Department has placed Arthur Roman on administrative leave.
CBS 2 couldn't find Arthur Roman at his Tinley Park home, but did find both his neighbors are Muslim.
"They're great people and they're good with both of us," one neighbor said.
The Orange County prosecutor's office says they have yet to review this case. It's unclear when charges will be filed.
