Oak Brook Police Officer Hurt In Crash On Way To Emergency

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A west suburban police officer was injured in a crash on the way to an emergency call on Tuesday night.

The Oak Brook officer was southbound on Meyers Road in a squad car on the way to a medical emergency with lights and sirens activated about 7:15 p.m., according to Oak Brook police.

A car heading east on 31st Street entered the intersection at Meyers and struck the squad car on the passenger side, a statement from police said.

The officer was taken to a hospital, treated and released, police said.

The other driver, a 30-year-old Chicago man, was cited for failure to yield to an emergency vehicle, police said.

Both the squad car and the other car sustained substantial damage.
