NU Researchers Seek Better Ways To Treat Asthma
CHICAGO (CBS) -- An estimated 300 million people around the world suffer from asthma, many of them children.
As WBBM Newsradio 780's Felicia Middlebrooks reports, researchers in Chicago are working on ways to improve care.

Dr. Lewis Smith of Northwestern Memorial Hospital, and the Northwestern Feinberg School of Medicine, is heading up new research in the treatment of asthma.
His team is looking for a study that will examine whether vitamin D pills will make inhaled steroids work better.
Some patients respond to steroids. Others don't. Researchers believe that may be because patients who do not respond have low vitamin D levels.
