Notre Dame Presents Big Opportunity For DePaul
When Oliver Purnell took over the job as head coach of the DePaul Blue Demons he knew that he would have his work cut out for him. And he knew the Big Est Conference wouldn't make things any easier.
"I've been in a similar league," Purnell said on the Danny Mac Show. "And it's never fair. No one is ever going to let you up. That's why it's so gratifying when you do get it done. You get it turned around. You start to beat some of these teams and beat them handily, it feels pretty good."

But so far this season the Blue Demons haven't been able to reach that point. They're 6-14 overall and 0-8 in the Big East.
"Right now, it doesn't feel good when you go against a Pittsburgh and you don't get it done," Purnell said.
But one of the advantages of playing in the Big East is that your next opportunity to step up and prove you belong is never too far off. On Thursday, the Blue Demons will play 8th ranked Notre Dame at the Allstate Arena.
"This is a rivalry game," Purnell said. "And you know, we have to start getting it done somewhere and I can't think of a sweeter win then to have one against Notre Dame on your home court."
If DePaul and Purnell want to prove that they can turn around the once proud program, than they need to look no further than Thursday night's game as the time to start.
