Notre Dame Loses 5-Star Recruit Vanderdoes
(CBS) In an offseason that keeps getting worse for Notre Dame, the Fighting Irish have lost five-star signee Eddie Vanderdoes.
The high school senior announced he will now attend UCLA.
Notre Dame, however, will not release Vanderdoes from his signed letter of intent, meaning he can't play for the Bruins this seasons if he accepts a scholarship there.
"Eddie Vanderdoes will not be attending the University of Notre Dame," Notre Dame football coach Brian Kelly said in a statement. "We did not release him from his national letter of intent in order to protect the integrity of that very important program, but we have worked with the Vanderdoes family so that Eddie can continue his education this fall at a school closer to his home. We understand Eddie's interest in remaining closer to his family and wish him well."
