Notre Dame Hockey Player Arrested For Allegedly Punching Female Bar Manager
SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) — A Notre Dame hockey player accused of punching a female manager at a restaurant near campus has been charged with three misdemeanor counts.
Twenty-two-year-old Jared Beers of Mishawaka was charged Monday with battery, criminal trespass and resisting law enforcement. South Bend Police Capt. Phil Trent says Beers was asked to leave Brothers Bar and Grill Sunday night after patrons accused him of taking beer from their tables. Trent says Beers punched the 35-year-old manager in the face and stepped on her head when she fell.
The Associated Press sent Beers an email seeking comment. The university announced Beers has been suspended indefinitely.
The junior defenseman played in eight of Notre Dame's 28 games and has no goals or assists. He was arraigned Tuesday. His next court date is Feb 19.
