Northwest Suburban Man Killed In Police Shooting
DES PLAINES (CBS) -- A police-involved shooting in northwest suburban Des Plaines has left one man dead Sunday afternoon.
In a statement issued late Sunday, the Des Plaines Police Department said officers were involved in a shooting in the 1900 block of East Touhy Avenue about 3:12 p.m. The statement did not indicate what led up to the shooting.
Carlos Salgado, 44, of the 400 West of Touhy Avenue in Des Plaines, was pronounced dead at the scene, the statement said.
Some officers were injured in the shooting and were treated and released from Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, the statement said. It was not clear how many officers were injured in the shooting or what kind of injuries they sustained.
The Illinois State Police Public Integrity Task Force is investigating the shooting, the statement said, adding that the department will review internal policies and procedures, as well as "any criminal element of this case."
Des Plaines Police did not return calls for comment.
