Northwest Side Neighborhood On Alert After 2 Women Attacked
(CBS) – A Chicago neighborhood is living in fear after two women were attacked and one of them raped over the weekend.
Even in the full light of day the fear is still there, CBS 2's Chris Martinez reports.
Mary and Caitlin Joost say they're uneasy after the two terrifying assaults in their Northwest Side neighborhood.
"It's always scary when it hits close to home," Mary Joost says.
The attacks happened less than one hour apart. The attacker targeted women walking alone.
The first attack was 9:45 a.m. Saturday. A woman was nearly forced into a car and then sexually assaulted and threatened with a weapon.
At 10:30 a.m. another victim was jumped and then punched and kicked in the face. Both described a similar attacker, dressed head to toe in black.
The police warning is now top of mind for many.
"You've got to watch over your shoulder all the time now," Caitlin Joost says.
