Northbrook Teen Killed In Wisconsin Crash
PRAIRIE DU SAC, Wis. (STMW) - A 17-year-old Northbrook teen was killed in a car accident in Wisconsin on Monday, authorities said.
Kyle Caraher, 17, who would have been a senior this fall at Glenbrook North High School, was an honor student and a football player.
He was driving about 1 p.m. north on Highway 188 near the Wisconsin River at Prairie du Sac when he failed to halt at a stop sign at Highway 60, according to the Columbia County Sheriff's Office.
His vehicle was hit by an SUV traveling east on Highway 60. The driver, Brian A. Moore, 27, of Lodi, Wis., was treated for minor injuries.
Caraher was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.
Glenbrook North High School Principal Paul Pryma said Caraher's death was devastating to the entire community.
"Kyle was strong, collaborative, hard-working and loved by all," Pryma said. "He couldn't wait for the football season to start. He was excited about the work he had done in the program and was anxious to play."
Head varsity football coach Bob Pieper also remembered Caraher fondly.
"He was the kind of young man I hope my young son will become some day," Pieper said.
