North Side v. South Side: At Macy's, Same Frangos, Same Store, Different Price
CHICAGO (CBS) -- The price you pay for a box of Frango mints depends on where you shop.
And by that, we mean ... in the same store.
CBS 2's Vince Gerasole was in Macy's flagship store on State Street and posted two pictures on his Facebook page.
On the south side of the store, a one-pound box of the famed chocolates was selling for $14.99--marked down from $24.
Seems like a decent deal, until he walked to the north side of the store and saw a similar display.
Only this time, the price was $11.99.
After doing some further investigation, CBS 2 has learned that last Friday, the mints were scanning on registers for $12.99. The cashier promptly noted the mistake and sold the box for $11.99, which was the posted price on that particular display.
Hurry, South Siders, rush over to the North Side.
While supplies last.
We like to put the consumer first.
This is also the same store that years ago, not long after it changed from Marshall Field's, listed Washington Street as Washington Avenue on its store maps. It also incorrectly listed Wabash as a "street" and Randolph as an "avenue."
