CHICAGO (CBS) – Chicago police are warning residents on the North Side about a rash of burglaries that took place Sunday morning.

Police released surveillance video showing robbers breaking glass to get into a Rogers Park bar in the early morning hours. The video was from R Public House on Jarvis Avenue Greenview Avenue.

The burglars grabbed money from the registers and tip jars inside the bar and then drove off in a Kia Soul.

Police said the same group of thieves hit at least six other restaurants and bars that morning.

In addition to R Public house on Jarvis Avenue in Rogers Park, which was hit at 4 a.m. Sunday, businesses at the following times and locations were also hit Sunday morning:

  • Between 12:01 and 8 a.m. Sunday, 2200 block of North Clark Street, Lincoln Park.
  • Between 2 a.m. and 7:30 a.m. Sunday, 2400 block of North Lincoln Avenue, Lincoln Park.
  • 2:56 a.m. Sunday, 1500 block of West Montrose Avenue, Ravenswood.
  • 3:25 a.m. Sunday, 2000 block of North Lincoln Park West, Lincoln Park.
  • 4:31 a.m. and 4:38 a.m. Sunday, 4700 block of North Damen Avenue, Ravenswood.

Anyone with information about the burglaries is asked to contact the Bureau of Detectives in Area 3 at 312-744-8263.

What you can do:

  • Keep the perimeter of your property well-lit
  • Report suspicious activity immediately
  • Keep doors and windows secured
  • Immediately repair any broken windows, doors or locks
  • If video surveillance is available, save and make a copy of the incident for investigating detectives.
  • If you are a victim do not touch anything, call police immediately
  • If approached by a witness to the incident, request contact information
