2 People Shot In North Aurora Woodman's Parking Lot
NORTH AURORA, Ill. (CBS) -- North Aurora Police were interviewing three people Tuesday night who they said may be tied to a shooting outside a grocery store.
The shooting happened in the parking lot of the Woodman's in the 100 block of Hansen Boulevard, close to Orchard Road and Oak Street. The first call to 911 came in around 9:20 p.m.
The parking lot was packed at the time, but it is also a vast lot far removed from the door to the store. No one in the store was hurt, nor were any bystanders in the parking lot.
The only ones hurt were the two victims, who were sitting in their car parked in a far corner of the lot. The gray car remained at the scene Tuesday night, partially up on the curb with the windows open.
Police said one man was taken to an area hospital in critical condition, the other in fair condition.
Police said the gunman ran on foot.
Officers did take three people in for questioning from a nearby apartment complex, and the chief told CBS 2's Marie Saavedra he believes this was a drug-related shooting.
North Aurora and Aurora police were working together on the investigation, and were using a drone to record images from the entire crime scene from above.
North Aurora police maintain there is no threat to the public. The Woodman's store remained open the whole time.
