No Need To Worry About Castro's Defense
Starlin Castro's major league debut was one of the best in Chicago Cubs history. His six RBI performance included a home run and a triple. But Cubs' fans soon learned there would be defensive struggles for their young short stop.
"Starlin Castro is going to make some errors, and Starlin Castro is going to be a good defensive short stop," the Chicago Tribune's Phil Rogers said on the Mully and Hanley Show. "He's going to go into the hole and get balls and throw across and get outs that a lot of short stops wouldn't get...His plus/minus on tough plays that he makes that an average guy won't make versus routine plays he botches I think is going to go to the plus side.

"But at the end of the year, he had [27] errors last year and he wasn't there the whole year, he's going to make 20+ errors this year, which is more than you want a short stop to make. But that's just kind of the guy he is at this point. I think as he gets more and more experience you'd like to see that total start to go downward. But I still like him a short stop because he has the arm to make the plays, [the errors] are just going to happen."
