No More Snow, But Cloudy, Chilly Conditions For Afternoon

CHICAGO (CBS) -- The snow is done falling, but conditions remain chilly and dreary until the next system brings rain on Wednesday.

A trough of low pressure system brought snow Monday night into Tuesday, and freezing rain later Tuesday morning. CBS 2 Meteorologist Megan Glaros says the snow totals were modest everywhere – 0.6 inches in Lockport, 0.4 inches at Midway International Airport and Elk Grove Village, and 0.3 inches in Deerfield and at O'Hare International Airport.

On Tuesday afternoon, conditions remain cloudy, but dry, as the high reaches 35.

On Wednesday, a cold front sweeps in from the west, bringing rain showers as temperatures begin to warm up.

Some rain showers are also expected on Thursday.

But the highs climb as the week goes on – 37 on Wednesday, 40 on Thursday, and 41 on Friday. And wouldn't you know it, yet again just in time for the weekend, the forecast highs drop again to the 30s – 38 on Saturday and 37 on Sunday.

But conditions are expected to be dry after Thursday.
