No Holiday For ER Staff
(CBS) – For a lot of folks, Christmas isn't spent exchanging gifts with loved ones – it's spent at work.
CBS 2's Chris Martinez takes us inside one workplace where some put the holiday on hold to help others in need.
It might be the last place you'd want to be on Christmas Day: the ER at Rush University Medical Center.
That's where Dr. Jim McCombs and registered nurse Tiffany Busscher are spending their holiday.
"It's always hard to see kids here on Christmas, and especially when it seems like it's taking them away from whatever they're doing for their family celebration," Busscher says while treating a 12-year-old patient.
Some on staff are planning to celebrate Christmas days in the future, with loved ones out of town.
