No Charges For Driver Who Hit Boy On I-57
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A driver who hit a boy on Interstate 57 Sunday afternoon is not facing any charges.
As WBBM Newsradio's Nancy Harty reports, Illinois State Police say the boy hopped a fence, walked down a grassy hill, passed the shoulder, and was in the left lane of northbound I-57 around 103rd Street when he was hit by a Honda Pilot around 2:30 p.m. Sunday.
Police say the boy was in a coma with head injuries.
State Police trooper Sarah Hester says the driver stopped and was not ticketed. She had tried to avoid the boy, state police told the Sun-Times Media Wire.
She says the boy was with two other young men who did not walk onto the highway.
