NFLPA Sends Out Lockout Handbook
The NFL Players Association has issued a 64-page lockout handbook that offers its players tips for saving money. The handbook was issued with just a few days remaining on the already extended collective bargaining agreement.
According to a report by Gary Graves, of USA Today, the handbook contains money-saving tips relevant to most cash-strapped Americans, like lowering the thermostat and washing clothes in cold water.
But the handbook also emphasizes some elements of saving money that are more specific to the NFL lifestyle. For example, the handbook advices players to "hold off on buying 'motorized toys' and expensive jewelry and reduce the size of your entourage."
The NFLPA also has a mortgage assistance program in place if a work stoppage were to last longer than 30 days.
