Newspaper Vendor Slain In Gary
GARY, Ind. (CBS) -- He was just selling newspapers when someone walked up to Kovin Bell and shot him. It happened this morning at 15th and Clark in Gary..
Police say Bell was shot in the stomach.
"He was coming to do his job he was getting the newspapers out of the back in the trunk to set up shop so he could start doing his job and next thing you know, an individual came up and shot him," said Terry Bell, the victim's brother.
Gary officials and family members say Bell was shot dead by a jealous gunman.
Bell is the eighth person murdered in Gary this month and the 33rd so far this year. That's up from 21 murder victims during the same period last year.
