New Teeth Behind Orders Of Protection
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WBBM) -- Orders of protection will have tougher teeth behind them under one of the new laws taking effect in the New Year.
As WBBM Newsradio 780's Dave Dahl reports, the idea behind the legislation is to make the remedies for criminal and civil orders of protection the same.

"The bill was brought to me by the Kane County State's Attorney's office, because when they would go for these orders of protection, they found that the language was not the same across the board in different situations, so they came to me with new language to remedy the situation," House sponsor state Rep. Randy Ramey (R-West Chicago.)
The law, among other provisions, allows a judge to take away Firearms Owner Identification Cards from people with orders against them.
