New Target Opens On Former Site Of Cabrini Green Housing Development
CHICAGO (CBS) -- The big retailer Target is opening its latest store on property that was once a part of the CHA's Cabrini Green Housing Development, reports WBBM Political Editor Craig Dellimore.

The new Target at Larrabee and Division is in an area that Mayor Emanuel says has changed a lot since the Cabrini Green high rises were torn down.
"20, 30, 40 years ago, Target nor anybody would ever go through Cabrini Green. Today, a resident of public housing was a developer and 60 employees at the store are residents from the neighborhood," said Emanuel.
Developer Zeb McLaurin was raised in the CHA's Altgeld Gardens housing.
"Not unlike any other traditional family here in the Chicago area or American family. My mom and dad made sure we worked hard, excelled in school, provided the opportunity to go to college," said McLaurin.
Now he is making a deal he says will be good business and good for the neighborhood.
