New Restaurant Serves Chicagoans Fried Twinkies, What More Do You Need?

Living in Chicago my entire life hasn't offered me an abundance of chances to try a fried Twinkie. If not for the excitement of finally trying that gluttonous treat, I'd probably have walked past State Fair assuming it was closed. Despite the dark and uncluttered atmosphere, I tried the door.
Thankfully, it was open.
State Fair popped up on the edge of Logan Square and Avondale a few months ago. Opened by Robert Rosado (who also owns Azucar, a great tapas restaurant off the Logan Square Blue Line), the idea seems to be to serve something not widely found in Chicago -- fair food -- but with a little more quality than you'd expect.
It's important to note the bar next door, The Previous Administration, which is also owned by Rosado. Opening not long after State Fair, The Previous Administration has a warm atmosphere with dim lights and a finished bar. The Previous Administration and State Fair seem to be intentionally paired together. And, if you want to see State Fair in its best light, it's probably best to look at it through the beer goggles of someone sitting at The Previous Administration who has the immense desire for greasy foods only a tipsy person can have.
When you look at State Fair on its own, it's not quite as angelic.
But it still serves fried Twinkies...
