New Outlet Mall Coming To Rosemont
ROSEMONT, Ill. (CBS) -- After stepping off a plane at O'Hare, where do you imagine someone visiting Chicago might want to vist? Willis Tower, Millennium Park... an outlet mall?
Fashion Outlets of Chicago, opening in Rosemont on Aug. 1, probably wants you to choose the latter. Located near O'Hare airport, they're hoping to benefit from the foot traffic and tourism of both Rosemont and Chicago. Fashion Outlets of Chicago announced in early March that it will have over 120 stores, including J. Crew Factory, Prada, Men's Wearhouse Outlet and Nike Factory Store.

It's not surprising to see an outlet mall going up in Rosemont. Being close to O'Hare has heavily influenced the suburb, which -- between its many hotels -- has about 12,000 hotel rooms. In the last decade, Rosemont's added many other amenities, like the Muvico Theater and a number of bars and restaurants -- and don't forget about the very exciting Donald E. Stephens Museum of Hummels.
Who doesn't love hummels?
Rosemont is also home to the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center -- one of the biggest trade show facilities in the nation -- and Allstate Arena, which hosts some of the Chicago area's largest concerts. With all Rosemont offers, it's easy to see why someone would want to put an outlet mall there.
What's the downside of Fashion Outlets of Chicago? It's hard to tell. In all likelihood, it'll contribute to business in the area, though it seems unlikely it will attract the area's anarcho-punks.
There's just no pleasing everyone.
