New Orleans Mayor Had Invalid Tickets To 2007 NFC Championship
CHICAGO (CBS) New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin planned on watching the 2006-07 NFC Championship between his Saints and the Chicago Bears from a suite at Solder Field.
But the tickets he received through a City Hall technology contractor turned out to be invalid.
Ed Burns, the former president of Ciber Inc.'s state and local government contracting division, based in Chicago, said he bought tickets to the game from the brother of Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher, and gave them to Mayor Nagin and his wife, according to The New Orleans Times-Picayne.
Those tickets turned out to be from a playoff game the previous season and Nagin and the party of New Orleans weren't allowed to enter.
Ultimately, Nagin and the group were able to attend the game, but many had to stand throughout.
The report also said that Urlacher's brother later apologized for the error.
The Bears defeated the New Orleans Saints 39-14 win the 2006-07 NFC Championship and advanced to the Super Bowl.
